Poor Old Pilot Jetty 02 is a captivating long exposure sunset photograph captured on a chilly October evening near the South Gare breakwater on the North East coast of the UK. This moody image beautifully highlights the weathered charm of the old Pilot Jetty, with its faded, aged timbers standing as a testament to maritime history.
In the foreground, wet rocks glisten under the fading light, guiding the viewer’s eye toward the jetty and creating a natural pathway into the scene. The long exposure technique enhances the dramatic atmosphere, softening the water and emphasising the textures of the rocks and timber. Behind the jetty, the sky is ablaze with rich orange and purple hues, adding warmth and depth to the otherwise sombre mood.
The combination of the moody sky, the weathered structure, and the reflective rocks creates a powerful sense of nostalgia and quiet reflection. Poor Old Pilot Jetty 02 is part of a set, offering a compelling glimpse into the rugged beauty of this historic maritime site. Perfect for lovers of coastal landscapes, maritime history, or atmospheric photography, this image brings a touch of moody elegance to any space.
